Our Project

Objectives and Strategy


The project targets on the strengthening of parent’s child rearing skills, especially for those in Europe who live deprived and in poor conditions with their children. By improving access to parental education, the partners intend to make an indirect contribution to the fight against child poverty in Europe.


To attain this goal project members attempt to elaborate strategies on how deprived parents and those living in poverty could be introduced to offers improving their parental skills, and how those offers have to be presented to be low-threshold and motivating for them.

Within a two year period participating partners intend to meet 6 times in the respective countries to concern themselves with the matter by exchanging ideas and experiences in discussions and visiting partner projects.


The objective is to develop a reader containing best-practice examples, as well as a joint catalogue with differentiated standards guaranteeing a low-threshold access to offers of parental education.

European Added Value

 

The transnational character of this project enables an even better understanding of the subject matter as it provides a much wider platform for exchange. Experts from participating countries get the unique opportunity to get together to exchange both knowledge and experiences and deliberate upon new ways to improve access to parental education. This process hopefully leads to a better mutual understanding for the situations in respective member countries and to see existing transnational continuities as well as differences in the field of parental education and child poverty. Furthermore the project promotes awareness for the diversity of social and educational policy in Europe and the jointly created catalogue of quality standards is a first step towards the harmonisation of practices in different European member states.

Impact

 

A variety of effects are expected from the cooperation in the learning partnership, among other things:

  • Better mutual understanding concerning practices and condition in the field of parental education among the participating countries
  • Increased public awareness for the subject matter of low-threshold educational opportunities for adults
  • Deepened cooperation between participating organisations
  • Elaboration of differentiated quality standards ensuring low-threshold access to parental education and application of findings by participating organisations in their everyday work
  • Possible adaption of existing educational offers with regard to the quality standards

 

Finally the project hopefully contributes to the fight against child poverty by providing impulses for the creation of attractive educational offers for deprived parents, so that these can be assisted in the child-rearing process.
